Finding Grounding in Chaotic Times

Hey friends,

It’s crazy out there. I don’t know about you, but everywhere I look, there’s change, chaos, confusion, shock, and grief. At the same time, I’m encouraged by the ways communities are responding—with courage, support, and connection. I’m trying to stay grounded, but when the waters are this rough, it’s tough.

One thing that’s been helping me is paying attention to what’s happening in the sky. The planetary energies right now are incredibly strong, and while they may feel overwhelming, we do have a choice in how we engage with them.

This month, there’s a huge focus on Aries. Many planets are gathering there, moving in dynamic ways. Venus and Mercury will both turn retrograde in Aries, we have two eclipses coming up, and Neptune will shift from Pisces into Aries at the end of the month. It’s almost like the cosmos is saying, “Hey, pay attention!” So, I’m doing just that.

If you think of planets as characters in a movie and zodiac signs as the genre, we’re in the middle of a fiery action flick about new beginnings (Aries). Venus, the planet of love, relationships, beauty, and creativity, starts the month by looking backward—reviewing, reassessing, and adjusting before moving forward. Then Mercury, the communicator, does the same, reevaluating the past before stepping into something new. The eclipses act as plot twists—big reveals that shift the story. Finally, Neptune, the dreamy guru, enters the scene, offering a new vision for what this beginning could mean.

So what is this new beginning? On an individual level, it depends on your personal chart, but collectively, it’s about identity—the core question: Who am I?

  • Who am I as a human?

  • Who am I as a body?

  • Who am I as a soul?

  • Who am I as a parent?

  • Who am I as a partner?

  • Who am I as an individual in a greater collective story?

The Who am I questions are endless and can feel overwhelming, but I think there are three important things to keep in mind as we navigate them:

  1. Have compassion. Before Aries comes Pisces, the sign of compassion. Offer compassion to yourself and others as we go through this big shift.

  2. Have patience. With planets moving backward and forward, things may feel both fast and slow at the same time. It’s almost as if the universe knows how big of deal this change is, so we are going to need time to adjust. Trust the process—this transition is big, and we’re meant to take our time.

  3. Start with love. Venus, the planet of love, enters the story first. That’s significant. This new beginning MUST START WITH LOVE.

This actually reminds me of one of the reasons I still consider myself a Christian (of sorts). As derailed as Christianity has gotten in the West, this is a tradition rooted in love. And that is the root, the grounding, the anchor we need to start this new beginning.
